Like other giants of the gaming landscape (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo), the Pokémon Company held it’s first “direct” presentation on Wednesday. Called “Pokémon Presents,” this first in series of pocket monster-related presentations dropped some major news.

Isle of Armor and New Max Raid Now Live – Sword and Shield Expansion
First up is news on the Expansion Pass for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. This massive add-on features two large chunks: The Isle of Armor, and The Crown Tundra. They’re two separate adventures that include new characters, new regions, and of course lots of new Pokémon– with a new Pokedex for each region!
The Isle of armor is now live complete with new Pokémon forms unique to the region, newly discovered legendary Pokémon, and even classic Pokémon from past generations. Plus, as announced in the Pokémon Presents, a limited time Max Raid event is now open for players to take on a Mythical pocket monster. If one million players are able to complete the raid, then everyone who bested Zeraora will receive a limited edition shiny version of the creature.
Over 20 Years Later – New Pokémon Snap
It’s hard to believe, but one of the most beloved Pokémon spin-off games from the 90s will make its return on the Nintendo Switch. New Pokémon Snap is being developed by Bandai Namco, and will once again allow you to “photograph lively wild Pokémon in their natural habitats as you research and explore unknown islands.” If you’re unfamiliar with the game, just imagine a Pokémon safari!

New Mobile Games and Pokemon Go Update
If the announcement of New Pokémon Snap isn’t enough for you, the Pokémon Company promises that more big news is coming on June 24. In the meantime, here’s the rest of the news revealed in Wednesday’s briefing:
Pokémon Smile – Check out the new mobile app that makes brushing your teeth more fun in the trailer above. “Pokémon Smile uses a mobile device’s camera to observe the player’s toothbrushing activity,” the Pokémon Company explains. “If the player skillfully brushes their teeth, they can defeat cavity-causing bacteria depicted in the game and then catch Pokémon.” As an adult… this actually sounds pretty fun!
Pokémon Cafe Mix – Check out the trailer for a new Pokémon game for Switch, iOS, and Android. It’s a puzzle game that takes place in a cafe where the food, drinks, and employees are all dripping with Pokémon’s cute aesthetic.
Pokémon Go – Last but not least, the (still) extremely popular Pokémon Go has been updated with new content. To celebrate the release of the Isle of Armor portion of the Sword/Shielf expansion pass, a special version of Farfetch’d is now in the game along with Mega Evolutions.
