Next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Character Revealed at Nintendo Direct

Super Smash Bros.

Thursday’s Nintendo Direct was all about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In particular, the announcement of the newest character to join the ranks of over 80 others was front and centre. The biggest Super Smash Bros. game yet is about to get even bigger in the very near future.

A New Challenger Approaches

The 5th add-on fighter to join the roster will be Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. And, just like in Three Houses, you can play as Byleth in either their male or female form.

For those who haven’t played the most recent (and critically-acclaimed) Fire Emblem game, Byleth is the main character that the player controls. He or She is a swordsman first and foremost, but will also come packing additional “relic” weapons (like an axe or bow) upon their arrival in Smash Ultimate.

Byleth will be available in-game on 28th January, so owners of the Ultimate Fighter Pass won’t have long to wait before they can play as our favourite Officer’s Academy professor.

The game’s director Masahiro Sakurai has hinted at much more content on the way too. In fact, Sakurai-san announced in Thursday’s Nintendo Direct that the Fighter Pass will deliver 6 more characters. He’s also hinted at more arriving after the Pass is complete!
