Fortnite’s New Week 6 Update – Balloons and the End of Fortnitemares

You can now get around the map like never before in Fortnite Battle Royale. Fortnite’s newest update brings you a new way to become a floating, brightly colored target! The new patch also prepares you for the explosive end of the Fortnitemares event.

Balloons!

Update 6.21 adds balloons as a new spawnable item that you can inflate at any time to use as a tactical advantage. You’ll use your primary fire to blow-up the balloons, and once you have 5 full, you can start floating and using the directional controls to steer. The balloons will even allow you to fly to the maximum height of the map! When you’re ready to come down, you’ll just pop the balloons to begin your slow (or fast!) decent depending on how many you burst. There are so many possible ways to use this balloons strategically in a match, but at the very least they’re so much fun!

The End of Fortnitemares

Update 6.21 also brings the end of the exciting (and drastic) changes of the Fortnitemares event. We know this will be sad for some, and a relief for others– honestly we’re pretty tired of bumping into angry Cube Monsters while we trying to get eliminations! The event will come to a close on November 4th at 1 PM Eastern Standard Time.

Fortnitemares won’t leave without one more spooky parting gift, however. If you finish all of your Fortnitemares challenges by the end date you’ll unlock the Dark Engine Glider pictured above! And we suggest that you log in to see the end… something big is going to happen. Something bigger than the Season 4 rocket launch possibly; and it’s definitely going to involve explosions.
