Overwatch’s 32nd Hero is now live across PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. It’s time to “slow down time, rain destruction from above in a jet-powered armor suit, or pilot a superpowered hamster ball” as the DPS-dealing doppelganger “Echo”. This adaptive robot possesses the ability to temporarily transform into any other Hero on the enemy team, giving her what we consider the best Ultimate ability in the game.

Echo: Death from Above

Blizzard describes Echo as an “evolutionary robot programmed with a rapidly adapting artificial intelligence, versatile enough to fill multiple battlefield combat roles.” But to put it plainly, She’s a DPS beast.

Echo features 3 different high damage abilities, a way to gain a tactical aerial advantage, and the power to mimic other Heroes (including their Ultimate abilities). All of this adds up to a multi-functional death-dealer that we wouldn’t be surprised to see nerfed in the near future. Here’s a rundown of Echo’s abilities:

TRI-SHOT

Echo fires 3 shots at once, in a triangle pattern.

STICKY BOMBS

Echo fires a volley of sticky bombs that detonates after a delay.

FLIGHT

Echo surges forward quickly, then can fly freely.

FOCUSING BEAM

Echo channels a beam for a few seconds, dealing very high damage to targets with less than half health.

GLIDE

Echo can glide while falling.

DUPLICATE (Ultimate Ability)

Echo duplicates a targeted enemy hero and gains use of their abilities.

Why is “Duplicate” the best Ultimate Ability in Overwatch? Quite simply, because it can be any Ultimate Ability in Overwatch; and it can do so when/where you need it most.

While temporarily duplicating an enemy’s abilities, any damage you deal will fill your duplicated Ultimate Ability meter much, much faster than usual. Meaning, that if you can stay alive long enough, you’ll be able to use the duplicated Hero’s best weapon against their team before you transform back to normal. New to Overwatch?

Overwatch is a competitive, 6v6 first-person shooter (with a variety of other game modes as well).

The game has undergone multiple game-changing updates in the past year (like Role Queue), and is now tighter, more competitive, and more balanced than it has been in a long time.

As with the releases of Echo today, new Heroes, Maps, and Gamemodes are continually added to Overwatch. Plus, there is a steady stream of monthly updates, special events, and cosmetic upgrades from legendary developer Blizzard. If you’re new to the game, now is one of the best times to join the action.
