Operation Absolute Zero
The biggest addition to Black Ops 4 in this recent update is the brand new Specialist. “Zero” makes her (free) debut to the roster this week! The Specialists, if you don’t know, are somewhere between Overwatch’s “Heroes” and Rainbow Six Siege’s “Operators”. Each Specialist has a unique background story and a special set of skills. In Zero’s case, she a hacker, who uses her skills to cause disruption and chaos on the battlefield.
Call of Duty: Blackout
Black Ops 4’s new Battle Royale mode has seen some big changes in the Absolute Zero update. There have been a number of visual changes to the overall environment of the map, along with updates to the core Blackout experience. There’s an updated armour repair system, the SDM and Spitfire have undergone weapon balancing, and a new Armoured vehicle (the “ARAV”) is now available! As for what’s coming soon, developer Treyarch is promising a lot. “Custom Games, Weapon Camos, Stash interface updates on consoles, holiday map decorations, throwable Snowballs, new seasonal Special Event Tiers, in-game promos, gameplay improvements” and more are coming soon.
Zombies!
All the Zombies players out there will be happy to hear that new features will be added for players on all platforms next week. Daily Tier Skips, the Black Ops Authenticity Stamp, and Daily Callings are all headed your way. And, like with Blackout, Treyarch promises that there is even more for Zombies coming very soon. “We’ll continue to roll out more new features and gameplay content in 2019,” Treyarch tells us in a blog post, “including Factions, new seasonal Event Callings, Phase 2 of the Black Ops Authenticity Stamp system featuring deeper player stats, and additional gameplay improvements, free for all players.” We’ll keep you posted on details regarding this as they emerge.
Black Market
When you log in to COD’s Black Market, you’ll see that the Tier progression is now “simpler and more rewarding”. You are now able to preview all items in the Black Market right away. In addition, the initial Tier showcase has dropped from 200 to 100. You’ll also see new earnable weapons in the Black Market. Lastly, the new specialist we mentioned above is now unlockable, along with new item categories, new Blackout characters, and much more.
