Age of Wonders 4

2nd May – PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S

The newest entry in the beloved 24-year old fantasy strategy franchise is finally here! It’s time to once again rule a fantasy realm of your own design.

Age of Wonders 4 is strategy meets role-playing. First, you’ll craft your followers from your wildest fantasies– anything from mystic moon elves to a clan of cannibal halflings is possible! Then, power up with magic to see your creations evolve and morph into angelic beings (or creatures of chaos). And finally, you’ll dominate the world around you in tactical turn-based battles– or, forge cunning alliances with other powerful factions! It’s definitely one you should check out this month.

Redfall

2nd May – PC, Xbox Series X|S

From the award-winning team behind Dishonored and Prey comes a new first-person shooter. Redfall is an open-world, co-op, story-driven, bloody good time.

A small town in suburban Massachusetts is having a little trouble with a legion of vampires. You see… they’ve blocked out the sun and cut the citizens off from the outside world. So guess what? It’s up to you (and your band of fellow survivors) to unravel a mysterious campaign in an effort to reclaim the town from the clutches (and fangs) of the bloodthirsty fiends! How could that not sound fun?

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

12th May, Nintendo Switch

Time to return to the lands… and skies… of Hyrule!

The sequel to Breath of the Wild, one of the best Zelda games (and one of the best games of all time) is finally here. As one of the most anticipated games of 2023 (and 2021 and 2020), this new release will have some pretty big boots to fill; but that hasn’t been much of a problem for each new game in the multi-decade-spanning Zelda series. Here’s what Nintendo promises to deliver exclusively to the Switch:

In this sequel to the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game, you’ll decide your own path through the sprawling landscapes of Hyrule and the mysterious islands floating in the vast skies above. Can you harness the power of Link’s new abilities to fight back against the malevolent forces that threaten the kingdom?

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

25th May – PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch

Venture once again to the Mordor– this time, with a slightly different perspective. In The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, you’ll step into the boots– er… rather.. the large, pasty feet of Gollum to search for his infamous “Precious”. Announced back in 2019, Gollum will explore this iconic Lord of the Ring’s character’s backstory. “We have the story that we all know from the book,” CEO of developer Daedalic Entertainment tells us, “but everything that happens to him before he appears in the book are the main things we will see in our game. “We will tell the story before he first appears in the books.”

With nothing more to lose, you’ll need to crawl, climb, and sneak your way to your intoxicating goal. Do whatever it takes to gain the upper hand on Smeagoal…

System Shock

30th May – PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S

What do Bioshock, Deus Ex, SOMA, and Prey have in common? They’re all spiritual succors to a little sci-fi shooter game called System Shock that originally released in 1994.
