The Forza Horizon titles are unique as far as racing games go, because they offer a rare balance of enthusiast level performance, and general gamer appeal. More than ever before is this open-world racing title all about the joy of driving– from the roar of the engine to the beautiful scenery that surrounds you.
The Reviews Are In
Reviewers all over the web are loving Forza Horizon 4. The game currently stands at a stellar 92/100 on Metacritic, having received high marks from across all major gaming outlets– such as a 9/10 from Gamespot, and a whopping 9.6/10 from IGN. Some reviewers were impressed with the depth of atmosphere that the new detail of changing seasons adds, and some were impressed by the size of the huge open-world maps. Eurogamer summed it’s praise up nicely by saying that “Forza Horizon can now undoubtedly count itself one of the racing game greats.”
Take the Wheel
With over 450 cars from over 100 different manufacturers, Forza Horizon 4 brings you the largest collection of cars of any Horizon title. And with special DLC like the “Car Pass” or the “007 Car Pack” that number grows even larger.
These rides aren’t just nice to look at either. Each car feels unique in its grip around turns or in its roar along a straight away. And all vehicles can be tuned and upgraded in a variety of ways to make them even more special. The technical specifics of each car are nuanced enough to please any respectable “car nerd”, yet accessible enough for anyone to have a thrilling ride through Britain; regardless of their gearhead status.
Forza Horizon 4 brings you the best of Britain, from lakes and valleys to castles and villages. Both city and countryside alike are beautifully rendered in 4k HDR. The time of day and the seasons change as you play, and every player populating the world experiences these changes at the same time.
Drive How You Want
Forza Horizon 4 is open world, and open campaign; meaning that you’re rewarded by playing the game, win or lose. This style of gameplay encourages players to try out the multitude of events throughout the vast map. Attempting a new race, challenge, or community event will help you level up and unlock rewards and even more activities to try. You’ll constantly be discovering new modes or new areas to explore. Every new adventure will contribute to your overall game progress.
Play Solo or Online
It’s still possible to go offline completely (and race against AI), but you won’t want to. Horizon 4’s multiplayer has been reworked to incorporate other players smoothly and seamlessly into virtual Britain. Up to 72 other players can be connected to your world, and choosing to avoid or interact with them is up to you– which goes to show you just how large the maps are! Once you feel the excitement of racing against another person, competing in a co-op weekly event, or exploring the streets of Edinburgh with a new friend you won’t want turn multiplayer off.
