New Life for Sims 4
Publisher EA has revealed that “The Sims 5” is not in the works, nor is it planned for the future. Instead, The Sims 4 will remain the primary platform for the Sims experience as we know it, and the next Sims game will be something…. multiplayer-y
What this means for Sims 4 is that it will remain an ongoing “legacy” title, and will receive larger, more substantial DLC– starting now.
The Sims 4 Life & Death Expansion Pack is one of the biggest and most impactful add-ons to date. This new DLC focuses on expanding core elements of the life simulation experience. It goes beyond superficial content additions by adding depth and complexity to existing gameplay systems; such as death, grieving, and the afterlife.
Maxis/Electronic Arts seem committed to supporting The Sims 4 for years to come and this expansion is just the beginning of that support.
Tons of new Content Perfect for Halloween and (the great) Beyond
Let’s start off with the ‘hoods. The Life & Death Expansion Pack for The Sims 4 introduces three exciting new neighbourhoods, each offering unique experiences and an eerie atmosphere.
- Crow’s Crossing – This village embodies a haunting, old-world vibe where players can find unique shops like the “Try Before You Die Casket Sale” and meet the mysterious Merchant. Crow’s Crossing is filled with ghostly apparitions, and visitors might even encounter little ghostly characters guarding supernatural sites, giving the area an almost timeless yet ghostly charm.
- Whispering Glen – For Sims seeking a quieter, rural escape, Whispering Glen provides a countryside setting filled with scenic rolling hills. However, it’s not without its mysteries; players will uncover the area’s spookier side, especially during the evening Moon Revelry, an event celebrated with the locals. This neighbourhood is perfect for Sims looking to blend rural life with supernatural adventures.
- Mourningvale – Known as a haven for ghosts, Mourningvale offers players the most otherworldly experience. Here, Sims can encounter ghosts, explore memorial sites, and perhaps even catch a glimpse of the Grim Reaper. This area has a “ghost town” atmosphere, giving players a fully immersive supernatural experience with multiple festivals and ghost-related activities.
Help Your Sims Live Life to the Fullest… Before They Start Their Next One
One of the most immersive additions in the new expansion is the Soul’s Journey feature. This allows Sims to create and complete “Bucket Lists” for lifelong dreams and goals. Meeting these goals unlocks powerful rewards. And if a Sim’s life ends before they complete their list, they can continue working on it in the afterlife. Ultimate rewards include the option for Rebirth, where they’ll return with special traits and skills, making their second life even richer. It’s yet another way that this new DLC adds more purpose and reward to your Sims’ lives.
Two New Careers to Die For
Ever wanted your Sim to work with Grim himself? With this expansion, Sims can embark on a career in the “Reaper Profession” by helping Grim at the Netherworld Department of Death. Sims in this role start as “Grimterns” and work their way up; mastering reaping skills and determining whether souls should pass on or get a second chance. The Undertaker Career also allows Sims to prepare others for the afterlife. Putting your Sims in charge of everything from embalming to managing funerals.
Oh, and yes– You can romance the Grim Reaper. Life & Death certainly doesn’t shy away from the series’ classic humor and quirkiness.
How Will Your Sims Be Remembered?
Honoring the deceased becomes an important part of gameplay with The Sims 4 Life & Death Expansion Pack. Sims can now draft Wills, specifying who inherits possessions and assigning guardianship for dependents. Customize memorials and funerals to create emotional send-offs, with options for caskets, urns, and portraits. This feature adds a profound layer to storytelling. It allows Sims to leave a lasting legacy and ensure their loved ones have a meaningful way to say goodbye…
