How to Play Concord Early and What to Expect After Launch

Set in a vibrant, futuristic universe, Concord is set to redefine the multiplayer shooter experience with innovative narrative elements and strategic depth not normally found in PvP Shooters. And the launch is only the beginning…

Once you assemble your crew, you can expect a robust roadmap filled with content updates, expansions, and community-driven events that will keep the game engaging and evolving over time. Here’s what you can expect from Concord now, and in the months to come.

Calling all Freegunners…

Time to join the crew of the Northstar! This group of outlaws, adventures, guns-for-hire, and other misfits are ready to travel the Concord galaxy to compete with rival teams in fast-paced, visceral, shooter action. Here’s the deal:

  • 5v5
  • PvP
  • FPS
  • A range of objective and respawn-based maps (set in an original sci-fi universe!)

At launch, you can expect 6 game modes, 12, maps, 16, Freegunners, and 8 Variants (unique versions of each character that have special modifiers to their base abilities). It’s your job to build the right crew, and then progress, personalize, and perfect your experience as you play. Hundreds of rewards are available to unlock (with more to come in Season 1), and each one is available to all players who own the base game– not locked behind a Battle Pass.

Developer Firewalk Studios has much more planned too… Check the Season Roadmap detailed below for a glimpse of what’s to come shortly after launch.

No Battle Pass, No Problem

Concord does not have a Battle Pass. Buying the base game means buying the complete experience.

All core content is available to you on day-one and moving forward—not gated behind paid expansions or a Battle Pass. We take your investment in the game seriously and want to ensure that we bring all players along for the journey.

It’s a revolutionary new concept for the online multiplay market, and it sets Concord apart from popular competitors like Overwatch 2, Apex Legends, and Valorant.

Concord Season 1 and the Road Ahead

The Concord base game is only the beginning, and as animation director Mark DeRidder succinctly puts it: “you own Concord, Concord doesn’t own you.” Meaning that all of the upcoming content detailed in Season 1 is for all of the game’s players.

Concord Season 1: “The Tempest” will introduce the first major content drop for the game. Adding:

  • New Freegunner
  • New map
  • New Freegunner Variants, Earnable cosmetics and rewards
  • New cinematic vignettes detailing the story of the Northstar crew

Season 1 will also introduce an in-game store with additional customisation items for those looking to personalise their Concord experience. The store will be a supplement to the hundreds of other rewards earnable through progression, and all will be solely optional, cosmetic, and have no impact on gameplay.

The Concord team is already hard at work on future Seasons, with Season 2 already slated for January 2025 (in addition to more seasonal drops throughout year one of the game).

Crew Builder and Continuous Evolution of the Meta

In addition to the precise, responsive gunplay and fast, fluid mobility, something else that sets Concord apart is its Crew Builder system. Here’s how it works. First, take one of the 16 Freegunners and their unique set of abilities, roles, and kits. Next, add the strategic layer of choosing how and when you deploy them throughout a map. It’s like deck builder meets PVP first-person shooter!

And Crew Builder is only scratching the surface of Concord’s strategic potential. New Freegunners, new Freegunner variants (unique versions of each character that have special modifiers to their base abilities), maps, and game modes will be introduced each Season. Thus allowing the meta to evolve continuously in exciting new ways.

Ultimately, when we step back and think about what drew us to make Concord and what we love most about multiplayer games, it’s exactly that: the potential for continuous evolution. It’s the thrill of the potential possibilities of where we can take the experience moving forward. And it’s the sense of adventure of finding out, together.
