What games do PS Plus members get to download for free this month? The selection’s pretty impressive, especially for fans of the NBA, horror, and a certain god of war.
Let’s take a look.
PS4
NBA 2k16
This basketball sim was met with impressive acclaim when it hit consoles last year, and with good reason. NBA 2K16 is a real evolution in 2K’s long-running series, featuring a story mode overseen by filmmaker and basketball fan, Spike Lee. Livin’ Da Dream sees players embark on a lengthy career, from high-school to college and then onto the NBA.
Players get to build their own rising star, choosing physical features as well as some background. As well as this story mode, NBA 2K16 also features MyTeam, MyLeague, and MyGM – there’s plenty for fans to sink their teeth into. A nice giveaway, well worth downloading for those in the mood to shoot a few hoops.
Gone Home
For gamers hungry for a different experience, Gone Home is ideal.
Set in 1995, Gone Home sees players cast as Kaitlin Greenbriar. After being away for some time, Kaitlin comes home to find her family’s home deserted, with no sign of her loved ones. Players are tasked with exploring the house and investigating clues to make sense of what happened.
Widely-praised on its release, Gone Home received Polygon’s Game of the Year, IGN’s PC Game of the Year, and Best Independent Game by Spike TV VGX Awards. It was also named the Best Debut Game at the 2014 British Academy Games Awards.
PS3
Echochrome
This stylish little puzzle game sees players guiding a mannequin through numerous 3D mazes. However, rather than moving the figure itself, you control the maze, turning the environment this way and that. By removing dead ends and drops into paths, you can navigate the mazes safely – but it’s not easy.
Player-generated levels can also be downloaded to keep the game fresh.
Siren: Blood Curse
This Japanese horror game is not for those with a weak heart. The third in the Siren series, Blood Curse is an acclaimed delve into a nightmarsh world of supernatural terror, following a cast of interlinked characters struggling to survive. Set in a small Japanese village, Siren: Blood Curse has a powerful atmosphere and offers up plenty of scares for those brave enough.
PS Vita
Little Deviants
Little Deviants was a launch title for the PS Vita, and features 30 minigames developed to showcase the console’s interactive controls. With the touchscreen, touchpad, motion controls, and augmented reality functions, there’s lots to enjoy here.
By helping the deviants get through the minigames, you’ll also help them piece together their spaceship and get one over on their enemies, the Botz.
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Kratos made the jump to handheld gaming with the PSP’s Chains of Olympus, and this remastered take is packed with all the blood, brawling, and fiendish platforming you could want.
This takes place a decade before Kratos started serving the Gods, and sees him embark on a quest to find Helios, the Sun God, who has gone AWOL. The gameplay’s fast and furious, and loses none of its visual glory or excitement in the jump to a smaller screen. Sure, the difficulty might frustrate some, but for fans, this free download is a must-have.
Well, that’s it for this month’s free PS Plus titles! All of these are available from the 7th of June.
